If there’s one thing I’ve learned from two decades of coaching it’s that everything comes back to the conversation.
As Judith Glaser cites in her book Conversational Intelligence (a quote I’ve used before here):
“Getting to the next level of greatness depends on our culture. Our culture depends on the quality of our relationships. Our relationships depend on the quality of our conversation. Everything starts with conversation”
And – I would add this piece – that real, meaningful, intentional and useful conversations starts with questions, quickly followed by deeply intentional and open listening.
Conversation, I hear you say, that’s easy. We do it all the time.
Yet when we bring an intimate group of leaders together for our annual (sometimes twice yearly) week of Deeper Conversations, participants are invariably surprised by how ‘not-easy’ or ‘casual’- real conversation can be and they quickly come to appreciate the subtle distinctions which make great conversationalists stand out as leaders.
So we’re offering that opportunity again this year – from 25th to 29th September – with a maximum of 12 participants. The more variety in age, experience, backgrounds, perspectives, the better. It all makes for rich conversational insights, learning, growth and transformation. It starts inside each participant and gradually causes ripples of change in both personal and professional contexts, for months and years to come.
